Moments of Prayer
This year, as we experience the six Sundays leading up to Resurrection Sunday, we will focus on six of Jesus’ prayer moments that Luke highlights in his gospel. In Luke’s narrative, prayer occurs at every major point in Jesus’ life and ministry, starting at His baptism. We rarely have Jesus’ prayers documented, but it is important to note the value Jesus placed on communing with His Father God regularly. I also want us to note the amazing happenings as Jesus prays…
“When all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized. As he was praying, heaven opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in a physical appearance like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, ‘You are my beloved Son, with you I am well-pleased.’” (Luke 3:21-22, emphasis mine)
As Jesus was praying, the Father and Spirit joined Him - The Kingdom of God drawn near!
Lastly, enjoy this beautiful song of worship by Charity Gayle as you move through your Sunday:
By Charity Gayle, Jennie Lee Riddle, Crystal and Will Yates
Cleansed - Charity Gayle (Lyrics)
Here, at the altar, where I run to rest
Where I wait, resurrection, and the touch of your breath
I die now daily, because I’ve learned to live
In the grace that belongs to all who are born again
Chorus
I am cleansed
I am washed
I am sanctified
I am Holy Ghost filled and water baptized
I am right with with my God for all time
Cause Jesus my Savior’s alive
Here, at the table, where children are fed
We are filled with mercy of the Lamb and the Bread
I feast now daily because I’ve learned to live
In the grace that belongs to all who are born again
Chorus
Bridge
Glory, glory
This is what is called glory
(Repeat six times)
Chorus
