Sunday - Third Feast Day
Day 17
Praise the Lord!! It is Sunday again and our third Feast Day!! On this Lord’s Day, enjoy worshiping with your church family through songs and hymns, through the reading and teaching of God’s Word, through giving cheerfully, and enjoying the blessed gift of food, chocolate, social media, or anything you may have set aside for your Lenten promise.
Real quick, before I let you go, I wanted to ask a personal question. Are you part of a local church? Do you consider these people your family? Are you more than an occasional attendee? During the pandemic, we were forced to stay home and worship - or not - with our families. We could watch services in our pajamas, and multitask while worshiping so that brunch was ready as soon as we signed off. Did you develop some COVID rhythms that have been difficult to lay down? Do you find yourself observing this Lenten season alone? If so, I want to encourage you that you are not alone! First, if you are in Christ, the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is alive and at work in you! Second, the fact that you are participating in #LentenDaily2024 proves that you are not alone. We are engaging in this season together! And, while never perfect, I imagine that there is a local church family that would love for you to join them today! So put on some clothes, brush your teeth and join the family for worship this morning!
Psalm 51
A Psalm of David, when the prophet Nathan came to him
After he had gone to Bathsheba
“Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!
For I know my transgressions and my sin is ever before me.
Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight,
so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment.
Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being,
and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.
Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you.
Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God,
O God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness.
O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.
For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it;
you will not be pleased with a burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”
Before the Throne of God
Performed by Selah
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong, a perfect plea
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands
My name is written on His heart
I know that while in heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart
When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end to all my sin
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me
To look on Him and pardon me
Behold Him there the risen Lamb
My perfect spotless righteousness
The great unchangeable I am
The King of glory and of grace
One with Himself I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God!
With Christ my Savior and my God!
One with Himself I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God!

Beautiful pairing of Psalm 51 and “Before the Throne of God.” Worshipping with the people of God this morning, imperfect, needy, broken. May the Risen Christ gather up all the broken pieces of our hearts and take them into the throne room of His Father, always interceding for us.
Preach!!
